CONSTRAINED WILDERNESS

The Swiss landscapes, renowned for their picturesque allure, evoke a yearning for untouched nature. Traditionally these scenes have been perceived as pristine realms, conveying a sense of longing and identity. However, their appearance is highly regulated, shaped and modified by human interventions – urbanization, agriculture, industry and landscaping.

The perspective on the natural undergoes constant redefinition within the cultural context, eventually reaching a juncture where perception and reality diverge.

The the yearning for untouched nature transforms into the conservation of the artificial. And the reintroduction of wilderness induces resistance.

How would the rural environment evolve, if the layer of overregulation was dissolved?

How would the cultural perception realign? How would our identity be reshaped?
